Thoroughly enjoyed Tryon Palace take the tour and the North Carolina Regional History Museum; I could have spent hours in the museum reading and listening to all the audio very well done. Not a lot of good shopping downtown in my opinion, but worth a browse anyway. Bought a few things at Carolina Creations and enjoyed looking at original art at the Greater Goode Gallery as it is mostly small inexpensive pieces from local artists, which are perfect for a memento.
Farmers Market may be worth a quick look, but very little produce in November when I visited. Overall, it was a fun relaxing weekend with a tolerable amount of other tourists. Quaint, historic village nestled in the mountains of North Carolina.
